Gugulethu Sofia Mbatha better popular under her stage name and screen name Gugu Mbatha Raw. Her popularity grew for her role in the BBC science fiction TV series Doctor Who. Gugu became famous for her role as Tish Jones. This was the character's sister. Handler aged 21 years of age and decided to pursue stand-up comics full time following her discovery of storytelling. Handler's career began as part of the all-female Oxygen TV cast in the hidden camera/practical comedy reality show Girls Behaving Unstably. It ran from 2002 until 2005. The host worked on numerous other shows including Weekends at D.L. The Bernie Mac Show My Wife and Kids, The Practice, and Weekends at D.L. Handler was hired for The Tonight Show as a correspondent. Handler received her first big break in 2006, when she began running her own talk show for E! called The Chelsea Handler show. The Chelsea Handler Show lasted two years. Handler was a performer at the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States following the season. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend (and HBO) have broadcast her live stand-ups. In 2010, it was announced that she would host the MTV Video Music Awards 2010. It was only the second woman ever to host the VMAs after Roseanne Bar.
